Odd Pueblo: Snappy or crappy?

This fun Odd Pueblo feature asks the audience to rate a trend, topic or sighting of something around town: is it snappy or crappy?

The last snappy or crappy, kids on leashes, was nearly tied, pun not intended. Thirty-nine percent said snappy while 33 percent said crappy. Twenty-two percent said snap/crap and 3 percent of the most doting parents said they weren’t sure and had to ask their kids.

Let’s rev into one of our favorite subjects: decorated autos.

This gussied up truck is decked out with bottle caps, wine corks and stickers, according to reader and Far-log creator Andrew Farley who sent in the photos.

When I asked if it were his truck, Farley was quick to respond, “Heck, no!”

Guess it’s getting a crappy vote on his end.

Snappy for sure on my end. I am a big fan of decorated autos, as evidenced by my own RynMobile and my snappy vote on other decked out vehicles we’ve featured.

We had the hippie happy VW bus and the funkified – and some said junkified – bugged out VW bug.

The gussied up truck even helps the environment by recycling wine corks and bottle caps. We’re sick of stepping on the bottle caps that litter the streets, so way to go, gussied up truck.

Besides, we really like the skull theme that’s peppered throughout the design and featured on both the hood and rear spare tire cover. The gussied up truck is a work of art for sure.

Is this the coolest decked out auto yet?

What vehicles have you seen that were cooler – or more heinous?

Would you drive this thing?

Morning Ryn! I changed browsers. Firefox stopped being able to leave a comment ???
I voted Snappy, cause, why not! I DO like the RYNmobile better, though!

    • Rynski says:

yaaay, andrew! glad you’re able to comment again!
i did check out your login info, etc. and didn’t see anything weird that would make comments not work – but you found an even better solution i see.
also YAAY on snappy truck vote – and RynMobile compliment! “why not” is a good rule to live by – hahah

Definately snappy – why not have fun while commuting ? Houston has a long tradition of “art cars” and a parade every year.
This is to be contrasted with that d&^%&mm ice cream truch that blares “music” and drives around my house 10 times  every evening.
Noise pollution doesn’t seem to bother most Tusconans, I’ve noticed – perhaps the result of the jets overhead impacting their hearing.

    • Rynski says:

yaaay! another snappy – i agree commuting should be fun, especially since it seems to take 200 hours just to go five miles in tucson – we may as well make the most of it -haha.
what cool art cars on parade – thanks for link. esp. dig the sunflower topped one – what a hoot!
ice cream trucks don’t count as anything but annoyances, i’ll agree with that, too. an ice cream truck was stalking my nabe for some time but has since moved on – maybe it’s the same one that nicely relocated for your pleasure?
another one of my least fave noise pollution sources is the music blaring out of other people’s cars – florida hated it so much it made a law against it.

Same as Andrew, I’ve had a posting problem from multiple computers. It’s been a bummer…but I’ve been lurking about tc.com as usual! 😛

I voted snap/crap because I’m not a fan of the million stickers all over the car. I like the bottlecap hood though…and the zebra striped front bumper! 😀

  4. Jenna says:

This is a test post…because I too have been having issues posting comments (from mulitple browsers/computers too).

I think it’s cute. I picture a super cool young girl cruising around in it.

Howdy Rynski! Well I’ll be doggone, an out and out snappy! I believe my 1st.
Pretty darn creative idea. I’m surprised someone beat you to it. 🙂

    • Rynski says:

no way! wow-ee! break out the drums and fifes!!! i don’t believe we got our VERY FIRST snappy from radmax!!
      now our life is complete!!!
i, too, think it’s a grandly creative idea. alas, we’re not patient enough to glue bottle caps all over a hood.

This car is nice but you need to see some REAL art cars. Go visit http://www.artcaragency.com/showcase.php?cat=conceptual_sculptural
This is the Art Car Fest and their new site links to many many creative cars. I have know several artists that have created art masterpieces that drive but are true works of art. Check it out.

  8. Rynski says:

    breaking news –
our artistic tucson blogger charles spillar e-mailed me this awesome link to more decorated cars:
…now why didn’t i think of the SHARK car? hahaha.
    thanks, charlie!
