Bored with driving? Jazz up your car like the RynMobile

Driving in Tucson can be so mundane, so it’s only right to make it a bit more fun by jazzing up your vehicle.

Cars also serve as a mobile billboard so people can stop, stare, illegally honk and hopefully login to the website pasted on the sides to buy a bunch of art so you can become rich and famous and move to southern France.

That’s why I now have a RynMobile.

The making of this magnificent motorized marvel was no easy feat. A series of steps are definitely necessary.

1. Go to a business advisor at SCORE, preferably the really cool George Cates, who tells you to outfit your car to advertise your art. He likes the idea of a giant dog.

2. Go to a metal works place and explain your idea. Be prepared to be looked at very strangely.

3. Wait several weeks while metal works place hooks you up some giant teeth, as specified. Be crushed when they tell you they cannot install the teeth because of insurance reasons. Be double crushed when they say they will make the ears but won’t install them, either, because it will make your car’s roof leak.

4. Throw up your hands in despair. Take the metal works place’s advice and go for decals.

5. Take a photo of the car and then draw what you want all over the photo, preferably with a fat, black Sharpie.

6. Redraw it at least three times when you realize your drawings look more like drunken graffiti than art.

7. Realize you like that your drawings look like drunken graffiti.

8. Head to DoubleT signs where owner Dave Torres and artistic employee Francis will translate your ideas into a series of decals that they install with care.

9. Drive to San Diego or otherwise take a maiden voyage in your jazzed-up car to see if people stop and stare.

Not only does the RynMobile get plenty of looks, it also received its first compliment on the very first day on the way home from DoubleT signs.

A guy on a bicycle rode by with, “That’s one very sexy car.”

Need decals or signs for anything? Definitely head to Double T Signs Inc, 1835 S. Alvernon, Ste. 214.

wb-logolilWhat do you think?

Have you ever jazzed up a car?

What’s the jazziest car you’ve ever seen? What’s the most hideous?

Cool car Rynski! Must have gotten allot of attention in San Diego. Is that Sawyer and the barking machine Phoebe on back? Bet Phoebe is on the right…?

  2. Rynski says:

thanks, radmax – yes, it was fun seeing if folks driving by would look or not. we threw tomatoes at those that didn’t (haha – kidding!).
good eye for picking out barking machine phoebe on the right! the front is an unintended self-portrait, someone told me.

  3. radmax says:

Dave and the guys at Double T do some fine work. They do all of our company trucks.

  4. radmax says:

Just mine Rynski…the site is messed up again-says I’m logged in, still makes me use recaptha thingamajig…

Leave it to you! Man…if that doesn’t get your art off and running, nothing will!
(I agree the face on the front looks like you.)

    That looks terrific!

I do know a tattoo guy here in town who tattoos his car with spray paint when he has down time, or at least he used to. It might be done by now. (Mike at Old Towne Tattoo on Speedway)

    • Rynski says:

haha! thanks, azmouse! i would love to see your tattoo friend’s car! another tattoo dude, johnny ray from majestik, also has a cool vehicle – his is yellow with tribal design decals. love seeing cool cars cruising around town.

    Mornin’ Ryn,
My Mom sent me an eMail that says “She’s At It Again” with a link to this story!
Got an idea as to teeth and ears. Call Truly Nolan, they are headquartered right here in Tucson; ask them who does the ears on the ratmobiles. You know the Volkswagen bugs with the mouse nose, tail and ears?

    • Rynski says:

haha – hiya mitch – tell your mom she’s way cool (haha).
Thanks for the truly nolan tip – but i’ve given up on the ears and teeth idea. nolan’s ratmobiles (which i think are micemobiles) are what gave SCORE guy Cates the idea for the giant dog, me thinks. alas, i’m happy with the rynmobile.

    I’m SPEECHLESS!!!!!

    • azmouse says:

      Isn’t it great!!??!!
You should be so proud. Wait till she comes for a visit and parks it in front of the house.
      Get the neighbors chatting!

      • MarcyMom says:

I’m SPEECHLESS, but I’m sure the neighbors wouldn’t be. However, they wouldn’t be surprised.

      • Rynski says:

Knew you’d love it, mom – esp. since it used to be your car!! Don’t ya love what I did with it? haha
Besides, what fun is life if you don’t give neighbors stuff to talk about?

“Content” is self-promotion (i.e. advertisements) on the planet Ryn, this experiment…

After showing my sons’ the car, my sixteen year old, Sebastian thought it was really cool.

My twenty one year old, Wesley, asked me to show him your website…..thought you surpassed Sharon Osborne in the hot, older lady category, which is a HUGE compliment in his world because I guess the young guys think she’s hot?!? Who knew???

Take it as a compliment because, of course I have cute kids! LOL!!

Hey, maybe an upcoming blog can be about bloggers’ kids and they can send in pics? We all think our kids are the cutest!

    • Rynski says:

hahhaha – thanks for passing along my creation to your sons. glad they got a kick out of it!
so glad wesley didn’t say OZZY OSBOURNE! thank him for me, as long as you promise that’s a compliment (haha) –
and yes, a readers’ kids blog would be great. we’ll have to have different categories – i’ll mull it over and see what i come up with! thanks.
