Odd Pueblo: Snappy or crappy?

This fun Odd Pueblo feature asks the audience to rate a trend, topic or sighting of something around town: is it snappy or crappy?

I was gladded when the last snappy or crappy, a bugged-out VW bug, got at least one non-crappy (although it may have been sarcastic).

The latest snappy or crappy should be something you all adore:

The MoonDance Saloon (aka The C Dance Saloon)

This chipper yet cozy venue is actually someone’s home sweet home where the chickens and ducks get harassed by the skunk unless the big dogs chase the skunk away.

While it’s not technically in Tucson – it’s down the road a bit in Arivaca – the MoonDance Saloon is cool enough to make an Odd Pueblo exception.

The snappy saloon’s most recent claim to fame is also fascinating: the place is neighbors with the North Trico Road property where a couple went missing and charred human remains were found in a fire pit.

So, what do you think? Please respond:
a. Snappy. That place looks more fun than a barrel of drunk monkeys.
b. Crappy. That place looks less fun than a barrel of cow pies.
c. I’m scared the couple who went missing may be haunting the place.
d. I’m too snobbish and close-minded to appreciate anything other than a cookie-cutter condo.

    Three snaps in a circle!
I love it. It’s to darn cute. They just need an old guy out front, with a corn-cob pipe, whitling.

I love it! I’ve spent a fair amount of time in Arivaca over the years and I’ve never seen this place. Where is it?

Howdy Lefty. It’s been a while since I have spent any real time down there. Seems to me this was somewhat of a hippie paradise. We used to go in the old mines and retrieve ore cars and such. Lots of ‘mota’ floating around. My buddy told me if you stray into somebodys crop you would probably end up ‘missing’. Just exactly what were you doin’ there… 🙂

Rescuing lost migrants (aka illegal immigrants) with water, food, maps and a guide to living high on the taxpayer’s dime.

That, and hanging out at the Gadsden Coffee Co. on open mic night, singing along with all the old Bob Dylan and Neil Young songs.

      • RADC MAXIMUS says:

Lefty, I have been there! Is it still there? …I gotta head on down and see whats changed. Lots of memories. Neil is one of my top 5. Oh, almost forgot, ahem…nasty illegal coddling commie! Have a good one.

  5. RADC MAXIMUS says:

Can’t decide, I’d have to see more of this joint. Is it like a facade from old tucson? PS- I have spent a bit of time in Arivaca, never seen this place either.

  6. Romeo says:

Could this mysterious place be Ryn’s super secret artist chanta?

  7. azmouse says:

    C’mon, RadMax-
It’s like a nice version of ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ house before the texas tea.

  8. azmouse says:

      • azmouse says:

i would like to forward an article to andrew farley, however the yahoo360 blog went bust in august, and i have no way to follow his travails. i found his stories about rescuing immigrants very compelling and would like to know how to follow now. perhaps he has a new blog that  readers don’t have access to?

Great Article, please feature this on the Bizymoms the bizymoms <a href=”http://www.bizymoms.com/arivaca/ ” alt=”http://www.bizymoms.com/arivaca/ “> Arivaca </a> community page, the moms will love it.

  16. Correct says:

FYI- This “saloon” is no where near the property of the pit where this couple was burned. The couple may have come from Arivaca but the property where they were murdered is west of Tucson, not in Arivaca.

    • Rynski says:

thanks, correct. the saloon ends up not in arivaca, either!
actually, we are not sure if the saloon exists – it may be one of those local myths. but we do know the pit exists, sheriff said. thanks again for correction on location.

    • andrew says:

Ha! Oh yes it is FYI just down the street, caddy cornered. K.R.’s even been there. corporation saver
